First Italian patient cured with customised phage therapy

Fagoterapia LAB is happy to share the publication regarding the treatment of the first Italian patient 🇮🇹 with hip prosthesis infection by means of customised #phagic #therapy (#bacteriophages). The therapy was provided by the Eliava Institute in Tbilisi in collaboration with dr Novella Cesta, Prof Massimo Andreoni’s team, and our collaborators in Leuven Jeroen Wagemans and Rob Lavigne.
An important piece that we hope will help the path to reach the big goal: the approval of #fagotherapy in Italy for the treatment of #antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections.
Fagoterapia LAB is at the forefront of R&D of phage therapy in our country and this work demonstrates the validity of the team’s skills and the solidity of the collaborations built.
